Tom Hanks dismisses trolls who call wife “flabby,” says she’s one of the ‘most beautiful women’ on earth

After 35 years of marriage, Tom Hanks continues to overflow with adoration for Rita Wilson, the same captivating woman who captured his heart when they first crossed paths on the set of Bosom Buddies.

Addressing critics online who unjustly attacked his wife’s appearance, Hanks passionately defends Wilson, whom he describes as “one of the most classically beautiful women to ever grace this planet.”

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, shining examples of enduring love in Hollywood, remain as delightful today as they were when they first met in 1981 during the filming of Bosom Buddies. At that time, Hanks, already married to his high school sweetheart Samantha Lewes, encountered Wilson, who guest-starred in an episode as a character dating his friend.

Their connection, however, was undeniable. “Rita and I just locked eyes and—ka-boing—that was it,” recounted the Forrest Gump star. “I asked Rita if she felt it too, and the rest is history.”

In 1988, following his divorce from Lewes, Hanks married Wilson, his co-star from the 1985 film Volunteers. Fast forward almost four decades, both now at 67, the couple celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in April 2023, having raised two sons together, Chet and Truman.

Throughout their enduring partnership, marked by appearances in films like Bonfire of the Vanities and Sleepless in Seattle, and mutual support, their bond has only grown stronger. Wilson fondly recalls a poignant moment in New York City when Hanks assured her, “You never have to change anything about who you are to be with me.”

In 2015, during Wilson’s battle with breast cancer that led to a double mastectomy and reconstruction, Hanks’s unwavering support deepened their connection. Reflecting on that challenging time, Wilson expressed gratitude for her husband’s care, which brought them even closer.

During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, both Hanks and Wilson tested positive for the virus, an experience that, despite its challenges, strengthened their bond as they cared for each other.

In 2022, while promoting Elvis in New York City, Hanks fiercely defended Wilson after a fan accidentally knocked her over, demonstrating his protective nature and devotion to his wife.

Despite the couple’s enduring love and shared achievements, Wilson faced unwarranted criticism in 2022 over her appearance, prompting Hanks to publicly affirm her beauty and bravery in the face of unjust scrutiny.

Tom Hanks remains steadfast in his admiration for Rita Wilson, emphasizing that her beauty transcends superficial judgments. As he has said before, “I consider myself incredibly fortunate.” Their love story continues to inspire, showcasing resilience, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion in the face of life’s challenges.
