As I wrapped up my latest project, BODYPOP, a high-fashion activewear line, I couldn’t help but think about the true meaning of being a “real woman.” The term has been thrown around a lot lately, often in the context of body image and representation.
When I posted a picture with two lovely ladies who modeled my collection, I was met with comments saying that I didn’t use “real women” to showcase my line. But what does that even mean? Are we talking about body type, size, or something else entirely?
The truth is, every woman is real, regardless of her shape, size, color, or background. We all have our own unique stories, struggles, and strengths. So, why do we keep perpetuating this idea that only certain types of women are “real”?
As I looked at the statistics, I realized that the average American woman has changed significantly over the years. We’re taller, heavier, and more diverse than ever before. But instead of celebrating this diversity, we’re often shamed for not conforming to unrealistic beauty standards.
That’s why I want to challenge the status quo and redefine what it means to be a “real woman.” To me, it’s not about size or shape; it’s about being strong, confident, and unapologetically yourself.
My models, Monique and Alyssa, embody this spirit. They’re not photoshopped or pretending to be someone they’re not. They’re real women with their own unique talents, passions, and stories.
So, let’s make a change. Let’s celebrate our differences and promote inclusivity in the fashion industry. Let’s show the world what it means to be a “real woman” – strong, beautiful, and unstoppable.
Join me on this journey, and together, let’s redefine the meaning of beauty and empower women everywhere to be their authentic selves.
