Candace Cameron Bure Speaks Out Against Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony

Actress Candace Cameron Bure has expressed her disappointment and sadness over the Paris Olympics opening ceremony, which she believes mocked the Christian faith. The ceremony featured a representation of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper, which Bure found offensive.

As a devout Christian, Bure shared her thoughts on Instagram, saying she was disheartened by the ceremony’s interpretation of the Last Supper. While she respects the Olympics and knows several athletes, this year’s ceremony left her feeling sad and mad.

Bure encouraged her followers to continue sharing the gospel and not grow tired of doing good. She emphasized that even those who claim to be Christians but are lukewarm about their faith need to hear the gospel.

Following her post, many attempted to correct Bure’s interpretation, but she remains unconvinced. The artistic director of the ceremony, Thomas Jolly, explained that the intention was to celebrate pagan culture and community tolerance, not to mock or denigrate anyone.

Despite this, Anne Descamps, a spokesperson for the 2024 Paris Olympics, apologized to those who took offense, stating that there was no intention to show disrespect to any religious group. The incident highlights the importance of cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse beliefs.
