The American influencer has highlighted why she’s remained a virgin all her life
A woman has explained why she is still a virgin at 34 in a video to her followers.
The American influencer took to Instagram to candidly speak about the subject, highlighting the main reasons behind her decision, which she says is fully her decision.
Lauren Harkins, known as itslaurenciaga on social media, is a crisis police liaison that claims to have had ‘no boyfriend since birth’ in her account’s bio, for one key reason.

Having previously spoken about how her lifestyle affects her decision, the 34-year-old began to say in the now viral video: “Some of the biggest myths about being a virgin in my 30s – these are all the things that people think when they find out I’m a virgin at 34, but aren’t true.”
Harkins listed: “They think I’m gay, they think I’m doing it for Jesus, they think hormones are not ‘hormoning’, they think I have a traumatic background, they think I need therapy,
“They think I’m super traditional, they think I have daddy issues, they think nobody wants me, they think I’m developmentally challenged, they think I’m socially awkward, they think I’m sex averse, they think I’m prude,” she explained.

Saying that ‘the list goes on’, she said that in her experience, people think that they’re ‘psychologists’, but she insists that someone can be ‘normal’ despite not doing ‘something’ sexual.
Harkins says that there’s nothing wrong with her for that, or anyone else choosing to abstain from sex.
“It just means you’re not ready,” she insisted.
The influencer said that she’s just waiting for the right person, and that she ‘doesn’t want to settle’ just yet, adding that she’s ‘all or nothing’.
Harkins went on to explain that it’s important to ‘break those barriers’ of what people perceive as normal when it comes to relationships.
“It’s important to see someone who isn’t aligning with their commonly held beliefs, and I love being able to be that person for people,” she stated, before saluting and joking, ‘it’s an honour’.
People took to the comments to share messages of support too, as one said: “Laurreennnn!!! Ain’t nothing wrong with you because of your choices and I’m so happy you know that!”
Another added: “Just turned 36. Not ‘waiting’ just haven’t yet and I’m 100% ok with that. Lol.”
Answering a comment asking about how much she’d done, Harkins said she’d only kissed a few guys in high school and college for ‘funsies’.
A third simply commented: “Sex is too transactional in the modern age.”
