A Grandmother’s Secret Gift

Clem was the youngest of her siblings, with two older brothers in their thirties. But among her loving family, one person stood out for her unconditional love – her grandmother. Since Clem’s 7th birthday, it had been a tradition for her grandmother to give her a gift every year on her birthday – a small, plastic sheep.

At first, Clem thought it was just a quirky habit, but as the years went by, she grew to cherish these small tokens of her grandmother’s love. But little did she know, there was more to these gifts than met the eye. When Clem’s grandmother passed away, she left behind a trail of memories and a final, secret gift.

On Clem’s 20th birthday, her mother handed her another box with a plastic sheep inside. But this time, there was a note from her grandmother, revealing that this was the last sheep she would give Clem. As Clem held the small toy in her hand, she felt a wave of emotions wash over her. She had always thought her grandmother’s gifts were a bit eccentric, but now she realized they were a symbol of her love.

As she gazed at the plastic sheep, Clem’s older brother, Sheldon, knocked on her door. “You haven’t figured it out yet, have you?” he asked with a knowing smile. Clem was confused, but Sheldon’s words sparked her curiosity. She began to examine the plastic sheep more closely, and that’s when she discovered the secret.

Underneath each sheep, there was a number and a message – “I love you.” It was like a code, but Clem was determined to crack it. With Sheldon’s guidance, she arranged the numbers in the order she received the sheep, and suddenly, a bank account number appeared.

The next day, Clem visited the bank with the account number and discovered that her grandmother had been saving money for her since the day she was born. The account held a staggering $120,000. But that wasn’t all – the bank also revealed that her grandmother had left her a safety deposit box.

Inside the box, Clem found a letter from her grandmother, explaining why she had chosen to give her the plastic sheep. It was a clever way to ensure that Clem received the money without anyone else interfering. Clem’s heart swelled with love and gratitude as she read the letter.

She immediately went to her grandmother’s grave, carrying flowers and a cup of tea. “Thank you, Nan,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion. “You’ve opened the door to my dream college. I’ll always make you proud. You’ve loved me more than anyone else.” As she took a sip of the tea, Clem felt a sense of peace wash over her, knowing that her grandmother’s love would always be with her.
