A man had been suspecting his wife of cheating on him, so he decided to come home early from work one day to catch her in the act. As he walked through the front door, his wife greeted him in a bathrobe, her hair disheveled. “Where is he?” the man demanded, his anger boiling over. “Where’s the guy who’s been sleeping with you?”
His wife played dumb, claiming she had no idea what he was talking about. But the man was determined to find the truth. He tore the house apart, searching for any sign of the mysterious lover. Finally, he spotted a man sitting in a Volkswagen outside.
Enraged, the man grabbed the refrigerator and hurled it out the window, striking the Volkswagen. But in his fury, he suffered a heart attack and died.
When he arrived at the gates of Heaven, St. Peter asked him why he was there. The man explained how he had caught his wife cheating, seen the lover in the Volkswagen, and thrown the refrigerator in a fit of rage. St. Peter scowled and sent the man to hell.
A few minutes later, another man appeared at the gates of Heaven. St. Peter asked him why he was there, and the man explained that he had been sitting in his Volkswagen, minding his own business, when someone threw a refrigerator at him. St. Peter wagged his finger and sent this man to hell as well.
Then, a third man appeared at the gates. St. Peter asked him why he was there, and the man scratched his head, confused. “Honestly, I have no idea,” he said. “I was just sitting in this refrigerator…”
