I sat on the couch, scrolling through an online store on my husband Eric’s laptop, searching for a warm jacket for our son. As I was about to check out, a notification popped up on the screen. It was a transfer confirmation from our joint account to my best friend Claire’s account. My heart sank as I clicked into our account and saw a long list of transactions, all sent to Claire over the past seven months.
I felt a chill run down my spine as I realized the extent of Eric’s deception. He had been lying to me, sending our money to my best friend behind my back. I couldn’t help but wonder what else he had been hiding from me.
I decided to dig deeper and opened Eric’s messages. What I saw made my blood boil. Eric and Claire had been exchanging flirtatious texts, with Eric promising to take care of her financially. I felt like I had been punched in the gut.
But I didn’t let my emotions get the best of me. Instead, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I pretended everything was normal, all the while planning my revenge.
For the next two days, I acted like nothing was wrong, all the while secretly transferring our money into a separate account that Eric didn’t know about. I also sent a message to Claire’s husband, Jake, inviting him to a BBQ at our place, where he would catch his wife red-handed with Eric.
The day of the BBQ arrived, and I could barely contain my excitement. I kissed Eric goodbye, telling him I had a work event to attend, all the while knowing that he would be walking into a trap.
As I waited in my car down the street, I could feel my heart racing with anticipation. Right on cue, Jake’s truck pulled up, and he stepped out, looking exhausted but excited. I watched as he walked up to the door, knocked once, and then—Claire answered, wearing nothing but a silk robe.
The rest, as they say, is history. Jake lost his temper, and Eric was left standing there, shirtless and stunned. I didn’t stick around to watch the full explosion, but from what I heard later, it was epic.
As I drove away, I felt a sense of satisfaction and closure. I had taken back control of my life, and I had made sure that Eric and Claire paid for their betrayal.
The divorce was a breeze, with all the evidence I had collected against Eric. I got full custody of my son, and Eric was left with nothing.
As for Claire, she lost everything too. Jake left her, and she was left struggling to make ends meet.
I, on the other hand, walked away with my head held high. I had taken back my power, and I had made sure that those who had wronged me paid for their mistakes.
