A father has been hailed a hero after jumping into the sea to rescue his daughter who fell from the Disney Dream cruise ship. The girl fell from the fourth deck, about 20 feet above the water, on June 29 as the ship returned to Fort Lauderdale from The Bahamas.
A passenger named Chandler recounted the frightening moment, saying there was a sudden disturbance followed by a scream and a loud splash that sounded harsh and unnatural, unlike a typical dive into water.
The ship was traveling between Nassau and Grand Bahama Island when the incident occurred. This area has seen similar tragedies before, including a disappearance last year involving a young man who jumped from a different cruise ship.
Emergency crews acted fast after the “man overboard” alert was announced just seconds after the girl fell. Passengers on a Disney Dream fan page shared that the rescue team quickly saved both the girl and her father.
Disney Cruise Line released a statement praising the crew’s quick action and skill, ensuring the safe return of both guests in a matter of minutes.
