A man stranded on a remote island has only a Doberman and a pig for company. Luckily, the island provides food, water, and good weather. Initially, he adapts well, building shelter and bonding with the animals. But as time goes on, loneliness creeps in and his mind begins to wander.
He starts noticing the pig in an unusual way, feeling attraction that he knows is wrong. Each time he tries to get closer, the Doberman intervenes fiercely, growling and even snapping to protect the pig and keep the man in check. The dog’s role as moral guardian frustrates him but also keeps him grounded.
One day, he spots a small boat on the horizon. Swimming to it, he finds an unconscious woman and brings her back to the island, caring for her until she recovers. Grateful, she offers to do anything for him. Instead of asking for favors or companionship, he simply asks her to take the dog for a walk.
Her confusion highlights the man’s struggle: the Doberman’s presence has been both a blessing and a burden, preventing him from making mistakes and reminding him of what’s right. In the end, all he truly desires is a moment of freedom from the dog’s constant watch.
