Texas has been struck by deadly flash floods that have claimed at least 50 lives, including children, and left families devastated. One such story is that of Julian Ryan, a 27-year-old father who died trying to save his fiancée, children, and mother during the floods in Kerr County.
After heavy rains caused the Guadalupe River to swell rapidly, floodwaters entered their trailer home in Ingram early on July 4. Ryan broke a window to help his family climb to the roof, but in the process, he severely cut his arm, nearly severing it.
His fiancée Christina Wilson shared the painful moment when Julian, losing blood fast, told her, “Sorry I’m not going to make it, I love y’all.” His body was recovered hours later once the water levels dropped.
Ryan’s mother called him a hero, and the family urged improvements in flood warning systems, saying sirens might have prevented some deaths.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has mobilized over 100 troopers and rescue teams with boats and helicopters. Governor Greg Abbott vowed to use every resource to save and account for victims. Former President Trump expressed sorrow and promised federal assistance.
