Krystal Maeyke, a 39-year-old Australian mom, is sharing her story to help others recognize the warning signs of skin cancer. She was diagnosed with stage four metastatic bowel cancer in 2023 after ignoring sharp stomach pains she thought were caused by a food allergy.
Despite living a healthy lifestyle, Krystal’s pain worsened over months, and doctors initially dismissed her concerns, calling it a mosquito bite and saying she was too young for cancer. She also experienced night sweats, which she blamed on the summer heat.
After further tests and a biopsy, Krystal received her cancer diagnosis. The treatment was tough and left her with a painful sore on her forehead. She admits the experience has taken a toll on her mental health.
Krystal wants people to be aware of their bodies and take any unusual symptoms seriously. She stresses the importance of sunscreen and monitoring skin changes. A fundraiser has been created to support her and her young son during this challenging time.
