A series of photos showing the area before and after the recent Texas flash floods highlight the massive destruction caused by the rising Guadalupe River. The floods struck Kerrville and nearby areas on July 4, killing at least 59 people.
Among the victims are 15 children, and rescue teams continue searching for over 20 missing children who attended Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp now without power or water.
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick mentioned that some missing children might just be out of communication.
Images posted online reveal the calm river and landscape before the flood, and the same area submerged under water afterward, with only tree tops visible. The river rose 23 feet in just two hours, causing widespread damage.
Locals remembered a similar flood in 1987 that killed 43 people, many of them teenagers from a church camp. That flood was one of the worst in decades.
Search efforts continue as families await news of their loved ones.
