Why Skipping Masturbation Might Increase Stress, According to New Study

A recent study has highlighted that avoiding masturbation can cause stress and feelings of depression. While masturbation isn’t often openly discussed, many studies point to its positive effects on health.

For instance, ejaculating daily has been linked to a lower risk of prostate cancer, with research showing that 21 orgasms a month can reduce this risk by 20 percent.

The new study involved 1,000 women who used a Magic Wand Rechargeable vibrator over three weeks. They followed a schedule of one week without masturbation, one week using the vibrator daily, and one week sticking to their usual sexual habits.

Findings showed that a week without masturbation led to drops in happiness, body confidence, and relationship quality.

One participant said the vibrator helped her manage stress by providing a break from daily pressures. Another noticed a big difference in her emotional health between the abstinence and vibrator weeks, with worse depression symptoms when not masturbating.

Lead researcher Candice Nicole Hargons emphasized the role orgasms play in helping people stay grounded and joyful during stressful times.

Masturbation also supports better sleep. German health provider Barmer Krankenkasse suggests masturbation as a natural sleep aid. Sex therapist Judith Golden explained it lowers blood pressure and releases endorphins, helping many people relax and sleep better.
