A father’s last moments during the catastrophic Texas floods have been shared by his son, revealing a deeply moving farewell before tragedy struck. The floods, which caused the Guadalupe River to overflow on July 4, have resulted in over 100 deaths and many missing persons.
Jeff Ramsey, 61, was at an RV park in Kerrville with his wife Tanya and their dog when floodwaters hit. His son Jake told the New York Post about the voicemail his father left, realizing he might not survive.
“He called us to say goodbye and tell us he loved us,” Jake said. The message was filled with fear, with the sound of rushing water in the background. Jeff’s voice was unlike anything Jake had heard before.
In addition to his goodbye, Jeff called his wife’s family staying nearby to warn them. “He saved their lives,” Jake said, “because their cabin was completely flooded.”
This story is a testament to a father’s love and courage amid one of Texas’s worst natural disasters.
