A batch of cucumbers sold at flea markets in McAllen and Alamo, Texas, has been recalled by the FDA due to possible contamination with Salmonella bacteria. The cucumbers, from Fuentes Farms, were sold between May 31 and June 3.
Salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, and in severe cases, it can spread to the bloodstream and cause life-threatening complications, especially for children, the elderly, and those with weak immune systems.
The FDA has classified this as a Class I recall, the highest level of concern, and the cucumbers have been removed from markets. Customers who purchased cucumbers from Lot #357 are urged to throw them away or return them to the seller.
So far, no illnesses have been linked to this recall, but officials warn about the potential dangers and emphasize proper hygiene when handling produce.
