Social media is a big part of our lives now that we live in a digital world. Putting up pictures and videos of their babies is a way for many new moms to stay in touch with family and friends. Natasha, a young mother, finds it hard to share pictures of her one-year-old son Raedyn, though.
Raedyn, Natasha’s son, was born with Pfeiffer syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that changes how the face, skull, and arms grow. Natasha thinks her son is perfect, even though he has a disability, and she loves posting movies and pictures of him on social media sites like TikTok.
People have been mean to Natasha when she has tried to talk about how happy and loved she is for her son. A huge number of people have asked her to stop sharing pictures and videos of Raedyn. Some have even made rude comments about his looks and asked her to stop posting them.
People have asked Natasha, “What’s wrong with your child?” and “Why does your child look that way?” Natasha has been hurt by these mean words, and they have also made it hard for her to take her son out in public.
“People just come up to me and ask, ‘What’s wrong with your child?’ or ‘Why is your child that way?’” Natasha told. “It’s not the right way to approach a human being.” Being stared at and asked questions about her son’s situation over and over again has worn Natasha out.
Natasha is still eager to fight for her son’s acceptance and inclusion, even though she has to deal with cruelty and ignorance. “He deserves life and acceptance, and I will fight until the day I die for that,” she stated.
Natasha’s story is a powerful reminder of how important it is to understand, care about, and show respect for others. Even though it’s hard for Natasha to raise a child with a rare disease, she will always love and be devoted to her son.
We feel terrible for Natasha and Raedyn, and we hope that their story will make other people more forgiving and open to people who are different from them.
