THE OLDEST ELF
The oldest Elf that ever there was known by the name of Merry
His hair was as white as driven snow, and his cheeks as rosy as berries
Even he himself couldn’t remember his age, but it was thousands of our Earthly years
So enchanting was he with his tiny frame, and his wonderful pointed ears
Being the oldest elf of all, he was Santa’s right hand man
Old Merry made sure that Santa’s Workshop, was efficiently and profesionally ran
All the Elves looked up to him, and respected what he said
And when they’d made some really good toys, he patted them all on the head
He was also the trusted guardian, of a very hallowed book..
The one with the Naughty & Nice list in, in which he was often taking a look
When he was looking at the Nice List, he would grin from ear to ear
But when looking at the Naughty List, he’d been known to shed a tear
However he wasn’t called Merry for nothing, as he had such a jolly disposition
He was filled with Christmas cheer, and knew of every country’s traditions
In fact he could tell you in a heartbeat, just about anything Christmas related
And he knew all there was to know about the North Pole, and just how it operated
He was particularly fond of Mrs Claus’s mince pies, and she often made some just for Merry
Which made his little nose glow, just like a cherry
Sometimes he will accompany Santa, on his journey on Christmas Eve
Just to supervise the Elves, and check on the people who still believe
In fact when you leave Santa’s mince pie out, you’ll know that Merry has been
Because there’ll be not one crumb left on your plate – he’ll have left it nice and clean
He might be the oldest elf, but he as many years left in him yet
He’ll be helping deliver gifts to your Great Grandchildren, I’m absolutely willing to bet
