Lizzo has finally shared the truth behind her dramatic weight loss, addressing speculation that she relied heavily on the drug Ozempic. The singer began her “weight release” in 2023 and recently reached a weight she hadn’t seen since 2014. She encouraged fans to believe in themselves and set new goals.
On the Just Trish podcast, Lizzo admitted she tried Ozempic briefly to shed a few pounds. Ozempic is a medication approved for diabetes but sometimes used off-label for weight loss. Lizzo explained that the drug works by reducing appetite, but ultimately, weight loss depends on burning more calories than you eat.
In a recent Instagram post, Lizzo shared photos showing her progress with lymphatic massage and clarified that her transformation is due to consistent effort. She works out three times a week, uses saunas and cardio daily, and has brought animal protein back into her diet. She also hires a chef to help with meal prep, ensuring she stays in a calorie deficit.
She cut out sugary Starbucks drinks, sodas, and chips, and stopped drinking alcohol for a long time, though she now enjoys an occasional drink. Lizzo’s exercise routine includes hiking, beach walks, dancing, and playing pickleball. She also gets holistic treatments like wood therapy and lymphatic massage. She expressed pride in her achievements and said no one can take that away from her.
Fans and celebrities alike praised her dedication, emphasizing that her weight loss is about hard work, not just medication. Lizzo also shared that giving up veganism helped her feel fuller and better manage her calories, as she had been eating a lot of bread and rice before. While she still values veganism and hopes to return to it, her current diet works best for her body and goals.
