Family Mourns 7-Eleven Worker After Fatal Altercation With Manager

The family of Jessica McLaughlin is grieving after she died following a violent incident at her job in Los Angeles. On June 24, Jessica was working at a 7-Eleven when she was allegedly attacked by her manager. According to her brother, the manager sat on Jessica, held her down, and stopped her from breathing. Coworkers who tried to intervene were also assaulted.

Jessica eventually broke free but collapsed and was not breathing. Her family said the manager pulled her hair and tried to delete security footage before fleeing on a bike. Police arrived to find Jessica unconscious and rushed her to the hospital. Doctors determined her brain had been without oxygen for more than ten minutes, leaving her brain-dead.

After seeking medical advice and exhausting all options, Jessica’s family decided to remove her from life support. They were able to be with her at the end. The LAPD is investigating the incident as a homicide and has video evidence, but it has not been made public. No one has been arrested yet.

A GoFundMe page was created to support the family. 7-Eleven expressed sympathy for those affected, confirmed the manager’s dismissal, and stated they are cooperating with law enforcement.
