Queen Camilla and Melania Trump spent plenty of time together during the royal state visit last week. Now, an insider has shared new details about how they actually get along.
During the latest state visit, Queen Camilla and Melania Trump once again spent time together away from the public eye. In fact, it was the third time the pair had met during a formal state visit, something that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
For Queen Camilla, the visit is especially significant. It’s her first time stepping inside the White House since King Charles ascended the throne in 2022, making it a quiet but historic moment for the royals.
Their connection, however, didn’t start here. When Donald Trump and Melania visited the UK last year, the two women also shared time together. They toured the famous Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and explored the Royal Library—offering a rare glimpse into royal history.
This time around, history seemed to repeat itself. While King Charles held a private meeting with President Trump, Melania and Camilla slipped away to the tennis pavilion, where they were shown a collection of historic artifacts—another quiet moment, but one filled with symbolism.
The relationship between the UK and the US has been strained in recent months, mainly because of the war in Iran. Speaking to CNN, royal expert and author Elizabeth Holmes explained that both Queen Camilla and Melania Trump are approaching their roles during the state visit in the same way.

“Neither one of them is stealing any of the spotlight here. In this case, Charles and Trump are very much the focal point. And I would bet both men appreciate that. Certainly, Charles has had times in his life when he was not the focal point,” Holmes said, adding that the first lady as well as the queen are both representative of women who need to play this supporting part.”
While both Queen Camilla and Melania Trump appear to enjoy each other’s company, they aren’t particularly close, Elizabeth Holmes explained.
“I don’t know of any sort of established relationship between the first lady and the queen, nor do I think there necessarily has to be one,” the royal author told CNN. “This, to me, feels very much like the first lady and the queen are going through the motions of what their role requires.”
Now, new details about Queen Camilla and Melania Trump’s relationship have come to light. A source tells The Sun that while they seemed to get along well in front of the cameras, they had a “very well” relationship behind the scenes, too.
Royal aide reveals what they really think of each other
A senior Palace source revealed that serious issues were discussed, but it was far from being a “tricky” situation. The royal insider said: “They get on very well. And it’s not just the King and the President.
“It’s all four of them with each other. The queen and the president. The Queen and the First Lady. The King and the First Lady. The King and the President,” they continued. “Given some of the issues that have presented themselves in the bilateral relationship, you’d think it might all be a bit tricky. But far from it. And the warmth that you see in public is absolutely the warmth you see in private. They concluded. That meeting in the Oval Office, there was an awful lot of warmth and laughter.”
