The affected stores are located in New York City, Seattle, San Francisco/Oakland, and Portland. In each of these markets, multiple Target stores will remain operational, with over 150 locations continuing to serve customers. The closures will impact a significant number of employees, with thousands of team members remaining in each region.
Target is intensifying its efforts to combat theft, including partnering with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations division. The retailer is also taking steps to secure high-risk merchandise, such as locking display cases. However, Target acknowledges that solving the issue of organized retail crime requires a collaborative effort, stating that it cannot address the problem alone.
